The desktop app includes a local runner. It executes personal workflows on the current computer and owns local schedules, file watchers, managed browser sessions, and operating-system actions.

Runner control

The runner control in the sidebar reports whether it is ready, paused, or actively executing workflows. Pausing prevents new local work from starting; it does not rewrite the workflow or its schedule.
Local schedules and file/Gmail polling stop when sndbox quits. Use a paired self-hosted or hosted runner when work must continue without the desktop app.

Permission review

Before a workflow can perform bounded actions, sndbox derives a permission summary from its current revision. The summary covers:
  • approved network domains;
  • approved folders and browser profiles;
  • browser automation;
  • background execution;
  • command execution; and
  • external communication.
A material workflow change can invalidate a previous approval. Local file pickers establish explicit path boundaries; choosing one file or folder does not grant arbitrary filesystem access.

Test versus run

Test node previews one selected step with current configuration. It does not commit workflow state, and destructive actions can require another confirmation. Run validates the complete graph, resolves permissions, then executes from the trigger through the connected path.

Keep the app responsive

Delay nodes wait without blocking the runner. Browser work runs through the managed sidecar. Node timeouts and the workflow concurrency setting bound work instead of leaving an operation open indefinitely. For unattended Linux execution, continue to Self-hosted runner.
