parse_json · Version: 1 · Category: Data
Parse JSON text or an approved file. This node is not marked with the catalogue’s generic side-effect flag. That classification is not a guarantee that every configured operation is read-only; review the concrete action and its destination.
When to use this node
- Convert API, file, or text output into a typed object or array.
- Validate that a text payload is well-formed JSON before downstream mapping.
Example: Parse an API payload saved as text
Map the text into content and leave path empty.Example settings
- Choose content for in-memory text or path for an approved file.
- Test with the actual payload.
- Select nested values from the value output in later mapping controls.
Configuration
Approved file input must be UTF-8 and defaults to a 10 MB limit. Mapped content is used directly.

Execution behavior
- Objects, arrays, strings, numbers, booleans, and null are all valid JSON roots.
- When both inputs are supplied, content takes precedence over path.
- The editor catalogue declares
value(any) for mapping. The execution inspector can contain additional evidence fields; inspect a real result before selecting nested paths from object or any outputs.
Common issues
- JavaScript object syntax is not JSON: property names and strings require double quotes.
- A successful HTTP Request may already return structured body data and need no Parse JSON step.
