Node type: condition · Version: 1 · Category: Logic Follow a true or false branch. This node is not marked with the catalogue’s generic side-effect flag. That classification is not a guarantee that every configured operation is read-only; review the concrete action and its destination.

When to use this node

  • Route success and failure paths from a status, count, boolean, or text match.
  • Guard a side-effecting node so it runs only when reviewed criteria are true.

Example: Branch on an HTTP status

Map HTTP Request’s status output to the left input and compare it with the number 200.
Example settings
This shows the important settings, not a complete exported node.
  1. Connect the request to Condition.
  2. Map status to left and set right to 200.
  3. Connect the true and false handles to different downstream nodes.

Configuration

Workflow JSON

The editor stores this node with the following implemented default configuration:
Default node configuration
Values may be entered literally or mapped from an earlier compatible output when the inspector exposes a mapping control. See Variables and data mapping.

Inputs

Outputs

Execution behavior

  • The node emits a boolean result and records which branch was followed.
  • exists and not_exists ignore the right value; ordering comparisons should receive compatible numbers or strings.
  • The editor catalogue declares result (boolean) for mapping. The execution inspector can contain additional evidence fields; inspect a real result before selecting nested paths from object or any outputs.

Common issues

  • The string “200” and number 200 may not compare as intended; inspect the upstream output type.
  • A control edge chooses what runs, while an input binding supplies the value being compared.

Test and inspect

Use Test node in the editor to preview this step with the current configuration. A full run records resolved inputs, outputs, logs, duration, and any artifacts in the execution inspector. Side-effecting or destructive nodes can require an additional confirmation or approved workflow permission.
