# Beta and updates

> Check the installed build and choose stable or prerelease update discovery.

The page shows the installed version and provides **Check for updates**.

| Channel | Behavior                                                            |
| ------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Stable  | Ignores prerelease versions.                                        |
| Beta    | Includes beta and release-candidate versions in addition to stable. |

An update must come from the immutable repository release tag and published manifest. The downloads page shows artifact size, checksum, and the available verification mechanism.

<Warning>
  The current Windows beta can be an unsigned test build. Verify its SHA-256 digest and release source before installation; a channel preference does not authenticate a file copied from elsewhere.
